Cinnamon and Orange Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce isn’t just for thanksgiving. This sweet and simple sauce combines fresh orange zest, cinnamon sticks and fresh cranberries. It’s perfect eaten alone or smothered on smoked ham or turkey. No matter your Christmas or holiday feast this sauce is the perfect addition.¬†You can also use the leftover sauce spread on fresh baked biscuits or sweet breakfast bread.

Trust me on this one. You’re whole family is going to go nuts over this delicious cranberry sauce.

Cinnamon and orange cranberry sauce

Yield about 2 cups


1 (12 ounce) bag fresh cranberries
3/4 cup ShopRite orange juice
1 cup ShopRite brown sugar
3 cinnamon sticks
Zest of one orange


Place all ingredients in a sauce pan and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes until most of the liquid has reduced – stirring occasionally. The cranberries will make a slight popping noise.

Remove from heat and serve. Cranberry sauce can be made days ahead and brought to room temperature or slightly heated before serving.
