The ShopRite of Bethlehem, PA is so brand spanking new it’s still shiny all over! Really. The Colalillo family has done it again with another beautiful store. There’s so much going on in one place that I’m not sure I can get it into one post.
Each and every department is staffed with people who are genuinely excited about what they’re doing. Stop by any given department on any day and ask a question. You won’t just get standard answers, you’ll also get suggestions and be introduced to new things to try.
Here are some highlights:
Registered Dietician – The store has a wonderful dietitian, Olivia Fieo, who is always at the ready to help you with any and all of your dietary needs. Her services are FREE and include Nutrition Counseling, Product Information, Grocery Store Tours, Sports Nutrition, Healthy Meal Planning, Disease State Management and Community Events and Dietary Supplement Information to name a few. Olivia will walk the store with you and help you find what you need for your diet and even point you to a few new products. She also works very closely
with the store’s Pharmacist, Peter Fares.
Pharmacy– The pharmacy has FREE flavorings prescriptions, prenatal and children’s vitamins and several diabetes medications. All you need is a prescription and most 30-day supplies of those medications are completely FREE. Ask at the pharmacy for details. They also carry pet medications, reduced co-pays for most generic medications, a Diabetes Wellness Center and a drive-thru.
Beauty Advisor– Another great FREE service is the Beauty Advisor, Corinne Fields. Stop by the Health and Beauty department and she’ll give you a 1-to-1 beauty consultation! Bring in your makeup bag and she’ll help you customize your products for the best use and even help you find some new ones. Register at the beauty kiosk and you’ll be looking better in no time!
Beer Store and ShopRite Kitchen– I’m not a huge beer drinker, but my fiancee likes to try different beers now and then. The beer store (tucked away behind the cafe near ShopRite kitchen) offers over 160 beers. Stop by and grab a 6 pack of your own making and grab one of the handmade beer carriers offered. They’re made of sturdy wood with the ShopRite logo and have a beer opener attached to one end. You can mix-and-match from one of the largest Select Six sections in the area and if you need help, Natalie Miller (a.k.a. The Beer Lady) is always around to be of service.
Natalie was recently featured on our local station’s Sunrise Chef series on WFMZ:
ShopRite Kitchen– ShopRite’s prepared foods section is a wonder. Offerings of a breakfast bar from 7 AM to 9 AM, a hot bar from 11 AM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 8 PM will keep you full all day! Choose from pizza, Chinese cuisine, sushi, a Rotisserie Chicken bar, gourmet sandwiches and subs, a self service bar including Grab and Go salads. There’s so much more you really need to stop by and see it for yourself. There are also 2 dining locations, one right near the ShopRite Kitchen (where they are also licensed for you to grab that beer and drink there) or upstairs in a cozy lounge with FREE WiFi and a television.
There’s a bountiful bakery filled with the most delicious baked items that will cater to your special occasion and has cake decorators available from 7 AM to 7 PM. They also have Live Right selections for special dietary needs. The from-scratch bread bar features all manner of breads for your choosing. Don’t miss the donuts! I mean this. The cinnamon buns are HUGE and to-die-for.
The Meat Department features Certified Angus Beef, all poultry comes from Readington Farms which is exclusive to ShopRite and is produced with no antibiotics or growth hormones. The meat cutter is there until 9 PM should you need any special orders. The ground beef is ground fresh daily and if it is not sold, is discarded for safety.
The Seafood section is chock full of beautiful fresh seafood. This is one of my favorite departments. All seafood at ShopRite is USDC Grade A and is bought directly from the New York fish market. ShopRite is also one of the only supermarkets in the country that has it’s own fishery facility with a full-time on-site government inspector. Wakefern has also partnered with the Marine Stewardship Council and Global Aquaculture Alliance in an ongoing effort to achieve seafood sustainability. Fish such as orange roughy, shark, blue-fin tuna and grouper are NOT sold by ShopRite due to over-fishing.
Produce – This is another of my very favorite departments – everything is always very fresh and there’s quite the selection. ShopRite always partners with local farms to offer a wide variety of the freshest produce. They offer store-made guacamole (you gotta try this!) and have fresh-cut ready to serve vegetables available at all times. Veggie platters and fruit baskets are available made to order.
Catering– The catering coordinator provides FREE personal event planning consultations by appointment or walk-in. The orders are coordinated with all store departments and orders can be placed online through the custom catering website: http://orders.shoprite.com/Store/00001/449
The Floral Department cares for all your flower needs with arrangements and gift baskets made to order.
Scrunchy’s Playhouse is on-hand for 90 minutes of supervised childcare while you shop for children ages 3-8. They also will hold special events such as Holiday parties, contests, and crafts for holidays. There’s also aScrunchy’s Book Club featuring snacks and a special
guest reader each month.
ShopRite’s Dairy features its own milk processing plant in Readington Farms in Readington, NJ. There’s quite possibly the largest selection of yogurt I’ve ever seen and a great selection of club-sized items (for families like mine!).
Shop From Home let’s you do your ordering online and then have your groceries delivered to you or you can opt to pick them up. What a time saver!
Mobile Scan lets you shop and scan prices with your smartphone for a faster shopping experience and easier checkout. Check at Guest Services for this terrific feature!
Center store frozen and dry goods offers a fabulous selection of foods. Premium ShopRite Imported prodcuts are one of my personal favorites, but there’s also a large variety of national brands as well as organic, gluten free and natural products. Look at the front of the shelf for special Live Right coded shelf tags. Each tells you right away what properties a product has that fit in with your diet.
I could go on and on (and I will in other posts!) about this store. Suffice to say, it’s a wonderful place to shop, with wide, brightly lit aisles and staffed with the happiest and most helpful people you can find. Visit today and make sure you also check out their
