A Taste of Sunrise Catering

Posted by

Recently, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Taste of Essex by the owner’s of my local ShopRite.  The Gladstein family was kind enough to extend the invitation to both me and my husband so that we could sample some of the delicious food from Sunrise Kitchens.

There was an assortment of cheeses to sample along with a few of the wine offerings from the ShopRite Wines and Spirits stores.  We had the pleasure of following up the cheese samples with  Black Angus Strip Steak with a Cabernet Demi Glace, Wild Rice Wheatberry Pilaf, and Wilted Swiss Chard with Frizzled Leeks.  It was a pleasant surprise to bite into the beef and find it so tender that no knife was needed.  The flavor of the sauce was not overpowering, but nicely complimented the beef.  I had never had wheatberries before and really enjoyed the texture they added to the pilaf.  ShopRite in Parsippany also makes a wheatberry salad that I’ll be seeking out on my next visit!

Of course, the bakers at ShopRite were there as well, with this gorgeous display of cupcakes.  I have ordered many birthday cakes and cupcake cakes from ShopRite over the years and the artistry of their bakers never ceases to amaze me.

Did you know that you can bring in just about any design you have in mind and chances are ShopRite can create a cake that will fit perfectly with your theme?  If you don’t have something in mind, just take a walk past the display case and you will have a hard time not finding something that you will want to share with your family or friends.

To finish off the evening, we sampled the Red Velvet Cake that not only had a slightly sweet cream cheese frosting but also a layer of chocolate mousse inside.  This was a perfect way to end the evening after sampling the fabulous food offerred by ShopRite as well as the other restaurants that were also there.

Thank you, to the Gladstein family, for a wonderful evening and a delicious opportunity to enjoy some of Sunrise Kitchens’ catering! Have you tried the catering offered by your local ShopRite?

IMPORTANT NOTICE: As a POTLUCKTM blogger, I received admission to the Taste of Essex event from ShopRite for free.
