SHOPRITE OF OAKLAND
About ShopRite of Oakland
With nearly 100 years in the grocery business, the Clare Family has managed to combine the best of both worlds in its ShopRite of Oakland: a successful business with a warm family environment.
The Clare family started in the supermarket business with a small grocery store operated by Arthur Clare in 1928. In 1956, Arthur’s sons, Thomas, Charles and Paul took over the business and 2 years later joined Wakefern, the grocery cooperative that supports ShopRite stores.
ShopRite of Oakland was opened in 1972 and Thomas’ sons Joseph and Robert run the business today, maintaining the family legacy started by their grandfather. The store is more than 81,000 square feet with 28 aisles, 32 checkouts and 400 associates, serving more than 1.5 million customers each year!
The mission statement at ShopRite of Oakland is simply to be the preferred place to work and to shop. We are passionately devoted to the well-being and education of our associates. Our goal is to work together every day to enrich our lives and the lives of our customers.
ShopRite of Oakland is both a family business and a dynamic work environment. We are continually expanding the products and services we offer. We look for every opportunity to grow our business to support the families and communities we serve.
As proud supporters of our community we provide products, funds and the commitment of our ShopRite volunteers to local civic groups and food pantries. We are involved with our local schools by supporting student events and by providing annual scholarship funds and endowments to several Educational Foundations. We are proud supporters of our military and our Netgrocer.com on-line service ships groceries daily to our troops around the world. ShopRite of Oakland and the Clare family are co-founders of The Hopes and Dreams Foundation for Children, raising funds for families with children in need of medical, educational or financial assistance. ShopRite of Oakland is also a partner in the fight against many diseases, supporting the work of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Alan T. Brown Foundation to Cure Paralysis and St. Joseph’s Hospital, among many others. Our commitment to give back to the community is a key element in the success of ShopRite of Oakland and our team of Associates. We encourage you to take the next step and apply with us!
