A Quick and Easy Gift For Foodies

Posted by Kayris

Chances are you have someone on your holiday gift list that is difficult to shop for. I know I do! Over the years, I have started giving those people food gifts. I mean, who doesn’t like to eat, right?

This year I’m short on time (what else is new), so one of the items I’m giving can be made in a jiffy — but it tastes like I slaved.

Plus, I was tickled to get my latest box of goodies from ShopRite because most of the ingredients I needed were included! Try it for yourself and please the foodie on your gift list!

5 Spice Pecans
(Recipe by Self magazine)

4 tsp vegetable oil
2 Tbsp plus 1 tsp ShopRite dark brown sugar
4 tsp water
1 1/2 tsp five spice powder
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2 cups ShopRite pecan halves
1/4 tsp kosher salt

Preheat oven to 350.  In a medium saucepan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.  Add the brown sugar, water, five spice powder, cumin and pepper.  Stir to combine and heat, stirring frequently, until sugar is dissolved and mixture is bubbly.  Add pecans and stir until pecans are thickly coated, about 3 minutes.  Transfer to a parchment paper lined baking pan and spread evenly.  Sprinkle with kosher salt and bake 8-10 minutes.  Cool completely.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: As a POTLUCKTM blogger, I received the ShopRite Dark Brown Sugar and ShopRite Pecans from ShopRite for free.
