What you will need to make butter recipe cake. 2/3 Cup water. 3 Eggs. 1 Stick butter or margarine. 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (350 degrees F for glass pans). Allow 1 stick (1/2 cup) of butter or margarine to soften to room temperature (approx. 15 min). Grease pans generously and dust with flour; shake out excess. 2. Blend in large mixing bowl at Low speed until moistened: cake mix, 3 eggs, 2/3 cup water, 1 stick softened butter or margarine. Beat 4 minutes at Medium speed or 450 strokes by hand. Pour batter into pans. 3. Bake at 375 degrees F until done. Cake is done if toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Do not test for doneness by touching with finger. Two 8 in. x 1-1/2 in. round layers, 30 - 35 min. Two 9 in. x 1-1/2 in. round layers, 25 - 30 min. One 13 in. x 9 in. x 2 in. oblong pan, 35 - 40 min. One 10 in. fluted tube pan, 35 - 40 min. Approx. 24 cupcake (fill 1/2 full), 15 - 20 min. Cool cake in pan, on cooling rack, at least 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan and cool topside-up on rack. Do not frost until fully cooled. Baking Tips: High Altitude (above 3500 feet): Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Stir 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp. flour into mix. Mix as directed using 3 eggs, 1 cup water, and 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine. Bake at 375 degrees F: Three 8-inch layers, 18 - 23 min. Two 9-inch layers, 23 - 28 min. 13x9-Inch pan, 25 - 30 min. One 10-inch tube pan 40 - 45 minutes.
