ShopRite Earth Day Challenge Contest Presented By DASANI® PLANT BOTTLE™

 

OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

1. CONTEST OVERVIEW: Wakefern Food Corp. d/b/a ShopRite (“ShopRite”) and The Coca-Cola Company d/b/a Dasani (“Dasani”) will fund initiatives to help restore, clean-up or beautify the environment and/or local community with monetary grants of up to $5,000.  All contest submissions must be made on behalf of a 501(c)(4) municipal or civic organization or public school.  Limit one entry per 501(c)(4) organization or public school.  ShopRite and Dasani will give funds directly to the winning certified 501(c)(4) organizations or public schools.  A link to the Internal Revenue Service’s website defining such organizations is provided for your reference, http://www.irs.gov/charities/charitable/article/0,,id=96099,00.html

2. ELIGIBILITY:  Applicants must be age 18 and older as of April 1, 2011, and a resident of Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania and must be entering on behalf of a 501(c)(4) organization or public school (“Eligibility Requirements”).  Employees of Wakefern Food Corp., The Coca‑Cola Company and their “Promotional Participants” (i.e. Coca‑Cola Bottlers) and each of their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, members, advertising and promotion agencies and suppliers involved in this Promotion and their immediate family members (parents, spouses, children, siblings) and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible.  The following organizations are not eligible to participate and/or receive a grant: Political candidates, causes or legislative lobbying efforts; religious organizations requesting funding for religious purposes; individuals and organizations without 501(c)(4) or public school status.

HOW TO ENTER: Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on April 1, 2011, entry forms may be digitally accessed at www.shoprite.com.  Complete the entry form, including the description of your planned clean-up, conservation, restoration or beautification project.  Projects submitted to the ShopRite Earth Day Challenge Contest must be executed in the community on 5/14/2011.  Projects not executed in the community on 5/14/2011 are not eligible and will be disqualified.  Certification of an organization’s 501(c) (4) status or public school status must be included with the entry form.  Entry forms and proof of organization’s 501(c) (4) status or public school status must be sent via email to:  shoprite_earthdaychallenge@skybridgemg.com, to be received by 11:59 PM ET on April 25, 2011.  Failure to comply with this or any other term in these Official Rules will result in disqualification.  Contest entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • mission statement (20%) – organization’s Mission Statement includes a commitment to the environment
  • volunteerism (20%) – number of volunteers for event indicates strong support
  • innovation (20%) – proposed event illustrates a unique solution to a problem, provides a compelling educational opportunity and/or encourages the long-term adoption of more sustainable behavior by the community
  •  environmental impact (20%) – proposed project has a measurable benefit to the environment and community
  • Project implementation (20%) – project can realistically be achieved in a reasonable amount of time and has the support of the community at large

In the case of a tie, the tieing entries will then be judged on environmental impact.  The highest score in the environmental impact criteria will be used as a tie-breaker.  Winners will be selected on or about May 2, 2011 from among all essays received.  Judges’ decisions are final.  Winning organizations will be notified by phone and/or mail.  No faxed copies will be accepted.  Plagiarized entries will be disqualified and any prize awarded will be revoked. 

3.  PRIZES & APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES (“ARV”)One (1) Grand Prize – A $5,000 grant, paid directly to the 501(c)(4) organization or public school.  ARV: $5,000.  One (1) First Prize – A $3,000 grant, paid directly to the 501(c)(4) organization or public school.  ARV: $3,000.  One (1) Second Prize – A $2,000 grant, paid directly to the 501(c)(4) organization or public school.  ARV: $2,000.  Grants are subject to proper documentation and verification of 501(c)(4) or public school status. Prizes consist of only those items specifically listed as part of the prize.

4.   GENERAL RULES:  Void where prohibited by law. Sponsor not responsible for lost, late, damaged, delayed, incomplete, illegible, undeliverable, mutilated, misdirected entries or entries not received by the entry deadline. No substitution, cash redemption or transfer of prize by winning organization permitted.  All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of winning organization.  All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.  All materials submitted become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.  Final judging will be done by a panel of judges selected by Sponsor.  Decisions of the judges are final in all matters relating to this contest.  Potential winning organization will be required to execute an Affidaivt of Eligibility, Release of Liability and Publicity Release (where legal) within 7 days of notification.  Noncompliance with these requirements may result in disqualification, and an alternate winner selected, time permitting.  Return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification, and an alternate winner selected, time permitting. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize of equal or greater value. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to the Sponsor and its Promotional Participants to use winning organization’s name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. By accepting prize, winning organization agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its Promotional Participants, Wakefern Food Corp. and all of their employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, parents, members, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Sweepstakes or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.  Entrants and winning organizations assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Contest or the acceptance or use of any prize. By participating in this Contest, entrants and winning organizations agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges.  Sponsor and its Promotional Participants are not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing, the offering or the announcement of any prize or in the administration of the Contest.
