Sweet and Savory Ways to Celebrate Passover

Why is this night different from all other nights? On this night, you’ll delight your Seder guests by elevating your matzah game. Here’s how to replace dry and dull with sweet and savory.

Savory: Matzah Pizza

Roasted Red Pepper Pesto Matzah Pizza

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces of plain matzah
  • 1/4 cup prepared pesto
  • 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 roasted red pepper, sliced thinly

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Place two matzo pieces on parchment paper, then spread pesto evenly over both slices.
  2. Top with mozzarella cheese and red pepper slices. Season with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes
  3. Bake for 7-8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Caprese Matzo Pizza

Caprese Style Matzah Pizza

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces of plain matzah
  • 1/4 cup marinara or tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tomato, sliced thinly

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Place two matzo pieces on parchment paper, then spread marinara sauce evenly over both slices.
  2. Top with mozzarella cheese and a few slices of tomato. Season with salt, pepper and dried Italian seasoning
  3. Bake for 7-8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Sweet: Matzah Bark

Pistachio Matzo Bark

Basic Matzah Bark

Ingredients

  • 1 box plain Matzah
  • 6 oz dark chocolate, melted
  • 6 oz white chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 – 1 cup assorted mixed toppings (see below for flavor ideas!)

Directions

  1. Use a spatula to gently spread melted chocolate over each of the matzah slices. Top with assorted nuts, dried fruits etc and let dry before cutting into pieces and serving.

Flavor Combination Ideas:

  1. Pistachio, Almond and Sweetened Coconut with White Chocolate
  2. Dried Cherries, Apricots and Almonds with Dark Chocolate
  3. Dried Cranberries, Candied Orange with Dark Chocolate
  4. Sweetened Coconut, Dried Apricots, Candied Lemon and White Chocolate
