Produce Merchandiser

As a member of the Produce/Floral team, the Produce Merchandiser will serve as a key liaison between Wakefern and ShopRite members, store Management and staff.  You will be responsible for the coordination, direction and implementation of Produce Merchandise at retail locations.  The direction and outcome of this position is to insure that our stores maintain a leadership position in the Produce category within all of our marketing areas.

This individual will maintain a leadership role at retail locations by focusing on assisting staff in the implementation of merchandising initiatives and the  utilization of reporting systems to monitor item and category sales and trends by store and trading area. Thr primary focus for this position will be to provide the highest caliber of wholesale and merchandising support, assure optimum technical expertise and establish innovative merchandising strategies within our stores.

To be considered, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Four year college degree or currently enrolled with aminimum of 60 or more college credits towards a bachelors degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Retail Merchandising and/or Procurement experience preferred.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, customer service, analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Knowledge of Produce information related to sales, product mix and gross profit.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with Produce Category Managers and Retail Management.
  • Valid Drivers License coupled with the ability to travel with overnight stays.

Project Analyst

At Wakefern Food Corporation, we are setting a new standard for success. We are the nation's largest retailer-owned cooperative, and the wholesale distribution and merchandising arm for ShopRite supermarkets.  We currently have an opening for a Project Analyst in Edison, NJ.

As a member of the CIS division, the Project Analyst participates in all phases of a project's development cycle, from the feasibility study through the production implementation.  The Project Analyst will participate in assigned project development work, which will include project feasibility study; definition of project requirements; project design; project/program testing and documentation; project implementation and follow-up; and user training and preparation of User manuals.  Under the general direction of senior staff members this position may be required to function independently, as part of a team, or may also be responsible for leading teams.

Qualifications include:

  • College degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience developing applications using the following languages:
    • Java in a websphere environment
    • Javascript
    • HTML
    • COBOL, COBAL Stored Procedures and JCL is a plus
  • Database Skills
    • Strong DB2 experience including experience with QMF
    • Oracle and SQL Server experience is a plus
  • Must have working knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of project development process and its organization and control.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Experience with Mobile applications development is highly desirable.
  • Must be available for off-hours support.

Sr. Database Analyst

At Wakefern Food Corporation, we are setting a new standard for success. We are the nation's largest retailer-owned cooperative, and the wholesale distribution and merchandising arm for ShopRite supermarkets.  We currently have an opening for a Sr. Database Analyst in Edison, NJ.

As a member of the Data Administration Department, this position will be responsible for support of the Production Database environments related to all Marketing Data Warehouse Application Databases and the Wakefern Corporate and Retail Portal Application Databases.  Additionally, this position will support the development efforts and application-oriented activities from logical design through production implementation, including all facets of the production change process.  This position also participates in the joint application design sessions and is responsible for logical and physical data modeling designs process using PC based data modeling software.

This position is required to function independently or as part of a team under the general direction of a senior staff member.  Team projects will include, but not be limited to, DB2 UDB version upgrades, major application upgrades, system maintenance and will require off hour support and work on weekends and holidays to complete such projects with minimal impacts to the business.

Qualifications include:

  • College degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years programming in COBOL, CICS, Perl, C, Shell, or Java a must.
  • Experience in AIX and DB2 UDB/AIX a must.
  • Knowledge of SAS Analytical Software a plus. 
  • Extensive knowledge of DB2, QMF, and SQL skills; including performance and tuning skills.
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts.

Sr. Programmer Analyst

At Wakefern Food Corporation, we are setting a new standard for success. We are the nation's largest retailer-owned cooperative, and the wholesale distribution and merchandising arm for ShopRite supermarkets.  We currently have an opening for a Sr. Programmer Analyst in Edison, NJ.

As a Sr. Programmer Analyst you will perform all activities associated with program development, from application design through implementation.  This includes actively participating in complex program coding and debugging, program modifications and maintenance, program testing (including test data development), job control and operating instruction preparation and program documentation and implementation.  You will also be responsible for project implementation and follow-up as well as User training and preparation of User manuals.

Qualifications include:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required; college degree or technical schooling strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 1/2 years experience in JAVA required.
  • Experience with IOS and Android development a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Must have strong analytical ability and good working knowledge of project analysis techniques and procedures.
  • Basic working knowledge of project development process and its organization and control.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently and make decisions autonomously.
  • Knowledge of operating and stafffunctions outside direct experience area is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of a programming language, operating system, utilities, dumps and debugging techniques.
