Make Every Day Earth Day
People from all over the world join forces on April 22 to celebrate Earth Day in a colossal effort to protect our global environment. While environmental awareness is particularly heightened at this time of year, if everyone made a few small changes to his or her daily routine, the impact on our planet would be huge.
One of the most common reasons people give for not going green is the expense. While it’s true that certain eco-friendly products are more costly, some household products might actually save you money while you save the planet.

ShopRite Is a Leader in Recycling
ShopRite has been an environmentally conscious company for over 30 years.
In 1992, ShopRite was the first of its kind in the Northeast to introduce a bag reuse program.
ShopRite offers a rebate program for customers who reuse their non-disposable shopping bags (5 cents per bag) and customers who reuse their paper or plastic bags (2 cents per bag).
In 2008, over 9 million non-disposable bags were reused and over 13 million paper and plastic bags were reused.
ShopRite also operates its own recycling center in Elizabeth, NJ. The facility recycles plastic bags, shrink wrap, corrugated cardboard, white stock pill bottles from the pharmacy department and plastic buckets from the floral and deli departments.
In 2008, ShopRite’s recycling efforts included:
98,000 tons of corrugated
2,110 tons of plastic bags and film
934 tons of newspapers
1,355 tons of waxed corrugated
280 tons of office paper
88 tons of metal
